Free Book Give Away!

Next Week's Free Book: In an effort to stimulate activity at my website, I have decided to initiate a weekly free book giveaway contest. The book that I will be giving away this week is called "How to Pray: The Best of John Wesley on Prayer" by John Wesley. The book is brand new and is completely free to the winner of my newest competition.

Product Description: Let John Wesley guide you into a deeper prayer life. These excerpts from his prolific writings will motivate and challenge you to greater communion with God. In approximately 45 readings, Wesley explains the why and how of prayer for believers at any stage of the Christian life. Lightly edited for ease of reading, Wesley's insights are sure to improve the way you pray!

This Week's Winner: The winner of last week's book entitled "The Greatest Generation" by Tom Brokaw is Kristina from Georgia. Thank you for visiting and supporting the Baptist Muse. I will have your book shipped out to you as soon as I can get your mailing information. Congratulations! Please leave me a comment or send me an email letting me know how I can get your shipping information.

Contest Rules: To be eligible for this contest, all you have to do is comment on any post between now and next Thursday. Each comment posted is another chance to win. You may post a maximum of three non-continuous comments per post. Of course, you can post more than that but only the first three will count. Non-continuous means that you may not have two comments on the same post in a row. Someone else must comment before you can submit your second comment on that particular post.

To determine the winner, I will use a random number generator using the total number of comments to set the limits of the generator. I will then begin counting through the comments. The first comment posted this week will be number one. The second comment posted this week will be number two. Etc. Whatever the number generator spits out at me, that is the winner of the book. I will then announce the winner and contact you to get your mailing address and I will send it right out to you!

  • Wow! I never expected to win!! This is exciting!! :o)

    Also, thanks for the prayers.

If you would comment on my site with your email address, I would be able to get my mailing address to you. That comment won't be published.

  • Sounds great.

  • Amen!! What a blessing that my daughter Kristina won this week's giveaway. I did leave a comment on the post that you were giving away the other book. But Kristina said she didn't see my comment. Who knows!!

I do want you to know that I have been visiting your site regularly. I just don't always comment. So rest assured...I'm sure there are people visiting....just not commenting. But I know how important it is to have people comment so that you know that you've had people visit. I hope you get more traffic here!!

  • Nevermind....I checked and my comment I left was published. I don't know what she is talking about. I think she might be blind...LOL!!

By Blogger Sis. Julie, At 3:23 PM

  • If she is blind, do I still have to send her the book? I mean, she won't be able to read it anyways.

Just kidding. We already dropped it off at the post office.

  • Blind...cute!!! LOL

I am looking forward to getting that book and reading it from cover to cover!!

  • Does this count as a post? Anyway, this week's book looks interesting, so I'm stepping out. No longer am I a mere reader - look at me I'm going postal!

  • Pastor Delhotal,

You crack me up little buddy! Congratulations on taking the plunge. Good luck.

  • Chad(Pastor Delhotal)~ It's about time that you went postal. If you win the book this week I am going to read it before we mail it out. Hehe

By Blogger Diane Cardot, At 2:27 PM

  • You going postal...I've seen that coming for a long time!

P.S. Chad, aka Pastor Delhotal, is my brother who now pastors a church in Princeton, IL.

  • Yeah, Nick's seen my "going postal" coming because he has been the primary motivation. You can thank him later (don't throw money, it will damage your computer screen). By the way, Nick even got me to write a blog - well it's more like a commentary, but you can see it at our church's website: No guarantees concerning the blog, but the site is nice (again thanks to ObNicksious aka Nicholas Z. Cardot).

  • You just like to blame all your problems on me.

By Blogger Diane Cardot, At 5:20 PM

  • Oops. I said the above comment but the computer was still logged into my wife's account.
