The Blood of the Lamb (Pt. 2)

“In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;” ~ Eph. 1:7
Again, Webster defines redemption as “the act of procuring the deliverance of persons or things from the possession and power of captors by the payment of an equivalent…”

The wonderful blood of the spotless lamb was the only thing equivalent to the power of our captor of sin. It was the only thing with the supremacy to pry our souls from the control and captivity of our sinfulness! Pastor Bob Gray spoke skillfully on the subject in his sermon entitled “The Blood of Jesus” preached at Longview Baptist Temple.
“Interwoven in the Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation is a scarlet thread which is really in reality the story of redemption. Only as we consider that red road do we properly understand the story of man’s sin and the cross of Christ. Overlook that scarlet thread in your reading of the Bible and remove it from your thoughts and you have no salvation…you have no Christianity.

“It was impossible for God to cloth Adam and Eve with the skins of beasts unless there was the shedding of blood. Listen to this statement, ‘It was the case of the innocent slain for the guilty.’ That is exactly the type of salvation that you and I have today. It is a case of the innocent slain for the guilty!”
