The Greatly Anticipated Announcement
Dear Friends and Fellow Bloggers,
After much prayer and careful consideration, my wife and I have decided to make a rather life-changing decision. As you may have now just guessed, I am about to make the exciting announcement that I mentioned in this past week’s episode of the Watchman Awards. Brace yourselves…
I have joined the United States Army and will be leaving for Basic Training on Tuesday, February 6, 2007. I certainly hope that you will all be praying for my wife and I as we enter this phase in our lives. Although she supports me whole-heartedly, I know that this will be very hard on my wife for some time while we are apart and I would greatly appreciate your prayers for her.
Blogging will probably slow down a bit during this time. I will try to send some periodic updates when I can get a chance. I will be sending some notes to my wife which she will post to the web. Don’t expect very much in this regard. I will also be sure to post the address where I can be mailed during my stay at Basic Training in hopes that some of you would be so kind as to mail me with some words of encouragement while I am there. I am told that soldiers look forward to mail call during Basic with great anticipation. If I have in some way been a blessing to you with this blog or with any comments I may have made on your blog, please drop me a note while I am in Basic Training and let me know.
Friends, I am so excited and except for the fact that I will be separated for a few months from the most wonderful lady in the entire world, I can hardly wait. I have wanted to serve in the military since I was in High School and now I am actually going to do it.
I believe beyond any shadow of doubt that this is the will of God for my wife and I at this time and I am so excited to be pursuing this. Please pray!
I will be posting some more information in the near future about some of the specific areas that I will be pursuing in the Army in some future blog posts. I will be posting some of the beliefs that I have about the United States Army. I will also do my best to answer any questions that you would like to ask me relating to this new venture.
Your Brother In Christ,
Nicholas Z. Cardot
P.S. Let me know what you think of the new header graphic that I have added!

I admire your decision and pray that you will be able to serve in mighty ways through this new Journey. I pray your wife will be comforted during your time away.
Thanks for your encouragement and support through some of my tough times.

"Blogging will probably slow down a bit during this time."
If you're talking about during Basic, you can count on your blogging slowing down!
I envy you starting out in the Army. I went through Basic in 1990 as a married man with a child. It was one of the most miserable but rewarding experiences in my life.
What is your MOS and where will you be doing training?
What do I think of your new header? I'm reminded of what a drill sergeant told me the first day of Basic: You're not a soldier yet. But there's nothing wrong with anticipation.

Kristi,
Thank you very much for adding my wife and I to your prayer journal. We greatly appreciate that. God bless you!

Anthony,
I will still be praying for you and your situation. I have lived through the divorce of my parents and several other people that I have loved and I understand in a limited sense what a heartbreak that it is. I will be praying for you!
By Nicholas Z. Cardot, At 9:24 AM
Milton,
You are certainly right. I am not a soldier yet but I am filled with anticipation. I will post my MOS in a post later today.
"It was one of the most miserable but rewarding experiences of my life."
That's sort of my mindset going into this. Thank you for your support and thank you for you service back in the nineties. God bless you!

We will be praying for you and your wife Nic. What an opportunity to be salt and light in the Army. Keep in touch.
I am sure your blogging will slow down significantly, I want you to know, that I do appriciate your blog and the Watchman awards, along with the other bloggers that you have linked to.
God bless you dear brother.

Thanks Billy,
You better right me a letter or two while I am in Basic. I appreciate your prayers and support!
By Nicholas Z. Cardot, At 10:27 AM
I will also keep the matter in prayer, but also, I wish to congratulate you on making a bold decision to serve your country in this manner.

Just remember that they can't eat you friend. And take that bible too. I don't know about now but used to they had "services" in bootcamp on Sundays. Heck there might be some fellows in your training group who need a good bible study.
Brace yourself though--its definitely NOT Kansas Toto.
I am tickled about this. If there was ever a place that needed Godly men its the military.
May the Lord bless you richly in Christ...(Eph. 1)

I will definitely be taking my Bible along with me and I will definitely be trying to be salt and light to those around me while I am in.
"Its definitely not Kansas, Toto."
Whatever might you mean? lol.

I will be praying for your wife as well as you! May God bless you and keep you safe! I love the header by the way!
By CindyMae, At 3:50 PM
Thanks Cindy. She will need a lot of prayers. I thought that maybe she would be glad to get rid of me for a while, but I don't think that that is the case. Thanks.
By Nicholas Z. Cardot, At 4:06 PM
Love your new header.
Me and Felice will be praying for you both.
We will keep in touch and call us if you two need anything.
Lord Bless.

Thanks Chris.
I will be expecting to get some mail from you guys while I am in Basic. You better not disappoint me. LOL. Thanks for the support.
By Nicholas Z. Cardot, At 6:42 PM
Wow, Nicholas! What a challenge you are facing. I'm excited for you. The first week of boot camp is insanely difficult, but it will make you a better, stronger man. I wish you all the best and will pray for you and Diane. Blessings!

Donna,
I like how Milton put it...it was one of the most miserable but rewarding experiences of my life. I have no doubt that this will be extremely difficult. But I believe this is God's Will so strongly that I think that he will reward me in His own good time. Thank you for your prayer and support. God bless you!
By Nicholas Z. Cardot, At 3:46 AM
Thank you for your willingness to serve. I'll be praying for you and your wife.
Also, I will be praying that God will give you holy boldness in communicating your faith among your fellow soldiers. Our Church has been praying for a real work of God among our troops. I trust that you are part of the answer to that prayer.
By Garry Weaver, At 7:09 AM
Thank you, Gary. Your blog and your comments have always been a great blessing to me. I appreaciate your prayers and support. I hope that the Lord can use me to contribute in some small way to the answering of your prayers. Thank you and God bless you!

God bless you in this new chapter of your life. I pray for your safety and success as a soldier. Thank you for being willing to serve this country.

Babe, I love you and know that we are doing the will of God for our lives. I am sure the separation will be different for us however, I know that it is what we are supposed to be doing. Thank you all for your prayers for my husband and I. May God bless you all in the days to come.
By Diane Cardot, At 10:13 PM
You two will be in our prayers. Bro. Aaron ends each letter home with the closing, I am so pleased & blessed that the Lord let me be a US Soldier. I know you will soon understand.
By Katy, At 5:41 PM
I am sure that I will. Thank you.
By Nicholas Z. Cardot, At 7:15 PM
Nicholas,
Wow!
Your profile said you were a recent graduate of Commonwealth...I figured you were looking for a pastorate or something.
My family prays for our soldiers every day. May He keep you safe and your wife encouraged.
